I’m a big fan of natural supplements that could potentially lead to muscle gain. I’ve tried many in the past and have seen slight benefits from some but most have been disappointing.

I’m hoping this one will be different.

I will be updating this log as time progresses and will write a full review at the end. Bookmark this post and check back to see my progress.

A-Bolic 4 was designed by the legendary Dante Trudel. He is the man behind “DoggCrapp” or DC Training and is now the owner of True Nutrition.

I follow Dante on Instagram and that’s how I found out about this product.

Here is what Dante Trudel had to say about A-Bolic 4 on Instagram:

A-Bolic 4 Ingredients

Dante Trudel says he has done a ton of research on natural supplements to promote muscle growth and the 3 main ingredients in A-Bolic 4 are the best. He says he designed this product as something he would want to take and does take it on a daily basis.

  • Turkesterone – from Ajuga Turkestanica Extract

Turkesterone is an ecdysteroid which is basically an “insect growth factor” Use of  Turkesterone leads to increases in muscle mass by increasing protein synthesis by 20-25%.

In one study, Turkesterone was compared to anabolic steroids, SARMS and IGF-1 and was found to be comparable. Here is the exact quote from the study, “The anabolic potency of the ecdysterone was comparable or even higher as found for the anabolic androgenic steroids, SARMs or IGF-1.”

Sounds pretty good right?

  • Apigenin

Apigenin is a bioflavonoid found in many plants. In addition to being anabolic, it also reduces anxiety and has anti-cancel qualities.

In one study, mice administered Apigenin had significant muscle mass gains over mice who where not given Apigenin. This same study showed that the mice given Apigenin significantly outperformed the other mice on the treadmill. (Yes, mice on a treadmill)

Apigenin increases muscle mass through multiple actions including increasing IGF-1 and Activating mTOR.

  • EMIQ (enzymatically modified isoquercitrin)

EMIQ is another bioflavonoid that has been shown to increase muscle mass. Multiple studies including this one conducted on mice and this one conducted on Japanese football players showed a significant increase in muscle mass when supplementing with EMIQ.

Additionally, EMIQ has been shown to lead to significant fat loss. The government is currently conducting clinical trials to investigate the effect and long term safety of EMIQ use in obese individuals. Here is the link to info on the clinical trial.

  • Bioperine

Bioperine is the active ingredient in black pepper. It increases the bio-availability of other supplements. It’s basically just in the mix to help you absorb the other 3 ingredients. It is very common in supplements today.

A-Bolic 4 Dosage and Timing

The Label on the bottle suggests that you take 1 capsule in the morning and 1 at night.

From experience with other bodybuilding supplements, I know that the dosage on the bottle is often the “beginner dose” so I did some research to see how much I should actually take. I contacted Dante on Instagram and asked his opinion. I gave him my age, weight and experience and asked for a recommendation.

He replied and said, “Bigger people definitely need more. 4 morn 4 nite work best.”

4 in the morning and 4 at night! I was surprised that the Dante recommendation was 4x the bottle recommendation. That would mean 4 bottles for a 1 month supply.

Shortly after this, Dante made the above post on Instagram. In the comments section he recommended taking 3 in the morning and 3 at night or 4 in the morning and 4 at night.

On February 12th, I got the package and immediately started taking 2 in the morning and 2 and night to try it out. After a few days I upped the dose to 3 in the morning and 3 at night.

I had originally ordered 4 bottles thinking that would be enough for a 2 month supply. Once I realized I was going to need more, I ordered 2 more bottles making it a total of 6.

UPDATE: On June 24th, Dante Trudel announced on instagram that they would be doubling the capsules for the same price. You now get 120 capsules per bottle instead of 60. This makes the product affordable.

My Goal with A-Bolic 4

It’s February and I’m about 2 months post slow bulking phase. I had gotten up to 240lbs in December but am back down to 225 now.  My goal is to cut back down to around 205 and be completely shredded for summer.

I plan on running the A-Bolic 4 for a solid 2 months. If it works like a charm, I might go for a 3rd month.

I am starting with 3 capsules AM and 3 PM and will probably stay at that dose for the duration of the cycle.

Over the course of this cycle (2 months), I would like to lose around 10 lbs (5 lbs per month) and be 215 by April 15th.  It would be great if I could be a shredded 215 but we will see.

My hope is that I will actually gain a little muscle during the cut from the use of A-Bolic 4 but I know it’s unlikely.

Beginning Stats

  • Age: 37
  • Height: 6′
  • Weight: 225 lbs

Before Pics:

Below are pics of me at the beginning of the cycle. I will take new pics 30 days and 60 days in.

Current (just before cycle) lifts:

One of the worst parts of dieting is losing strength. I would love for A Bolic 4 to help me retain my current strength while cutting.

These are in lbs.

Squat: 405 x 10

Trap Bar Deadlift: 615 x 6

Romanian Deadlift: 405 x 10

Bench Press: 275 x 7

A Bolic 4 – 1 Week Update / Initial Thoughts

What I am seeing:

I noticed right away that I looked “fuller” despite being on a pretty low-carb diet. Right now I’m eating 100 grams of carbs per day, but 2 days per week (when I deadlift and squat) I bump it up to 300g.

A couple of days ago I trained arms at 11am on zero carbs (after being awake since 4am) and was low on carbs the 2 days before. Despite the lack of carbs, I got the most insane pump. I do use my diy pre-workout before every training session and it contains multiple “pump” ingredients, but this was different. The A Bolic 4 has to be doing something in the pump / fullness department.

I’m looking a little more vascular. At my current level of leanness I don’t have that many visible veins but the veins in my arms do seem to be sticking out more/ are more visible.

I am already feeling leaner. I’m sure part of this is because i’m dieting but it seems to be more than that. I have lost a pound but I feel like I am leaner than I should be from losing a pound.

What I am not seeing:

I haven’t noticed any significant gains in strength or endurance yet. My workouts have been great because the pumps are good but I track all my big lifts (bench, squat, deadlift, etc…) and I didn’t immediately get way stronger or have the ability to perform more reps than usual.

I don’t “feel” it in any way. There is no increased aggression or motivation. It doesn’t keep me up at night or make me tired or anything at all. I’m not noticing any decreased or increased appetite.  This is all fine, but I always like it when a supplement has a “feeling” because that leads me to believe it’s working.

Thank’s for following. I will update this log around March 15th and again Around April 15th with progress pics and lift stats. Bookmark this post and check back to see my progress! Please ask any questions you may have in the comments section below! Thank you!

A Bolic 4 – 1 Month Update & Progress Pics

We are 1 month in and I’ve made more progress than I was hoping for. I have lost 10 lbs in the past month and am down to 215. This was my 2 month goal, so I am setting a new goal of 210lbs (-15 lbs total) by April 15th (end of 2 months on A Bolic 4)

So far, I am not experiencing anything too drastic. You will see from the progress pics that I look a little leaner. I do believe that the a-bolic 4 is helping me retain some muscle and strength but I don’t think I am gaining any muscle.

I am still experiencing good pumps despite being on around 100g carbs per day.

Current Stats:

  • Age: 37
  • Height: 6′
  • Weight: 215 lbs

Current lifts:

Squat: 405 x 10

Trap Bar Deadlift: 615 x 3 (not sure what happened here but my deadlift has suffered significantly.

Romanian Deadlift: 405 x 10

Bench Press: 275 x 9 (Bench press went up witch is great news. My bench typically suffers a lot while dieting)

Progress Pics:

1 Month Recap

After looking at the progress pics myself, I seem to look more vascular. I’m sure this has something to do with losing 10 lbs, but I think the A Bolic 4 has something to do with it as well. I felt more vascular almost as soon as I started taking it.

Not sure if you have experienced this yourself, but when i am dieting, low on carbs, but not that lean, I feel soooo flat all the time. It’s hard to see any vascularity unless i’m in the gym getting a pump. The A Bolic 4 seems to give you a bit of a pump all the time. It’s nothing like getting pumped up in the gym but it prevents that feeling of absolute flatness.

Feeling flat all the time sucks and can make dieting harder. If nothing else, the pump factor improves your state of mind and prevents flatness induced depression.

Thank’s for following. I will update this log around April 15th with progress pics and lift stats. Bookmark this post and check back to see my progress! Please ask any questions you may have in the comments section below! Thank you!

2 Month Update and Progress Pics

Man, am I glad I train in my garage. Coronavirus is happening now (Mid April 2020). I’m very glad to be able to train at home and keep everything going for the remainder of this log/ cycle. The last month I have been working from home and my diet has not quite been in check. I have lost just 2 lbs over the past month. It’s good but I wanted to lose a little more.

If I had one word to describe the last month it would be recomp / recomposition. I am leaner and better than I was a month ago.  You will see in the progress pics that I have made improvements and look better despite my weight barely changing.

Current Stats:

  • Age: 37
  • Height: 6′
  • Weight: 213 lbs

Current lifts:

Lifts all stayed about the same over the past month. This is what I would expect since my body-weight didn’t change much.

Squat: 405 x 9

Trap Bar Deadlift: 615 x 5

Romanian Deadlift: 405 x 12

Bench Press: 275 x 8

Progress Pics:

I’m definitely a feeling like I made progress over the past month. Comparing these pics to the pics from a month ago, I think i am looking leaner in the upper body for sure. I forgot to take a back shot.

A Bolic 4 Review After 2 Months of Use

I used A Bolic 4 over 2 months for a cut. During the 2 months I went from 225 lbs to 213 lbs for a total of 12 lbs lost. I lost 10 lbs in the first month and 2 lbs in the 2nd month.

Overall I would consider A Bolic 4 to be an effective product. I feel it helped me retain muscle while losing fat, and I would say my progress pics and logs back up this claim.

I was able to maintain my strength (mostly) over the 2 months. This was a huge factor for me. I log all my lifts and firmly believe that keeping up with your log book is imperative for retaining muscle during a cut. I ended up losing 1 rep on the Trapbar Deadlift but gained 2 on the Romanian Deadlift.

During the 2nd month of use, my weight only changed slightly (2 lbs lost) but I can see significant differences in my progress pics from the end of month 1 to the end of month 2.  It seems that A Bolic 4 is an effective supplement for recomp / recomposition.

The pumps I got from this product were very good. I was able to maintain a higher level of “fullness” than I would expect while being on fairly low carb diet. Most days I only consumed 100g of carbs and would expect to feel much “flatter”. My theory is that A Bolic 4 is an effective nutrient partitioning supplement and helped me to better utilize the few carbs I was eating to restore muscle glycogen.

The only downside to A Bolic 4 was the price. At 3-4 bottles per month it got rather expensive.

UPDATE: On June 24th, Dante Trudel announced on instagram that they would be doubling the capsules for the same price. You now get 120 capsules per bottle instead of 60. This makes the product affordable.
